Statement from INCOMPAS CEO Chip Pickering on the Reconciliation Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 19, 2025 – INCOMPAS, the internet and competitive networks association, submitted a letter of support to Chairman Guthrie voicing support for the AI provision in the reconciliation bill.

The following statement can be attributed to Chip Pickering, CEO at INCOMPAS:

“Today, I offer my strongest endorsement of the final reconciliation bill, specifically highlighting section 43201 which allocates $500 million to the Department of Commerce for government-wide AI implementation and includes a critical temporary moratorium on state regulations.  This substantial investment will drive federal modernization, while preventing a regulatory patchwork that would undermine America’s competitiveness in the global AI race against China.

I applaud Chairman Guthrie and the Committee for their foresight in simultaneously addressing technology modernization, streamlining regulation, and strengthening our essential digital and energy infrastructure. This reconciliation package delivers precisely what’s needed to secure America’s AI leadership.”
