WASHINGTON, D.C. – August 9, 2023 – INCOMPAS, the internet and competitive networks association, filed comments in response to the Federal Communications Commission’s Report and Order and Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and Order seeking proposals on the 12.2-12.7 GHz band.
“Earlier this summer I was invited to the White House to celebrate the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment Program, a bipartisan achievement that commits in words and in deed the national consensus that every American should have internet service,” said INCOMPAS CEO Chip Pickering. “This historic investment in building out our nation’s networks combined with the opportunities presented by the 12 GHz band creates a unique window to close the digital divide, promote competition, and lead the world in connectivity.”
“The 12 GHz proceeding is a critical component to delivering on the promise of Internet for All. That is why we need to ensure the FCC has everything they need to unleash this powerful spectrum into the marketplace unlocking the 500 -1,000 megahertz of capacity for high-powered, two-way terrestrial fixed wireless,” Pickering continued. “By increasing competition through the broader use of this mid-band spectrum, we will encourage more innovation and more choices particularly for consumers in unserved and underserved communities.”
“This is a rare moment in time where complimentary initiatives from the White House, Congress and the Commission can come together at the right time to achieve a monumental outcome. We cannot waste this moment.”
