INCOMPAS CEO Issues Statement on Budget Reconciliation Package’s Investment in AI Modernization

WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 12, 2025The AI Competition Center (AICC), a project through INCOMPAS, the internet and competitive networks association, released the following statement in response to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, budget reconciliation plans on modernizing the Department of Commerce’s operations by supporting the adoption of modern information technology (IT) and artificial intelligence (AI) systems.

“I applaud Chairman Guthrie on investing in the transformative potential of AI to modernize government through the reconciliation package,” said INCOMPAS CEO Chip Pickering. “This is a critical use of resources that fosters innovation, will result in cost savings, and reinforces US leadership in AI. To ensure the success of that effort it is essential to put a hold on burdensome state regulations. I’m also pleased to see the Committee put forward a solution to streamline and expedite energy deployment. Bolstering our energy and digital infrastructure is essential to winning the AI race against China.”
