WASHINGTON, D.C. – February 13, 2025 – This week, INCOMPAS CEO Chip Pickering participated in a panel at State of the Net to discuss new AI policy frameworks from the U.S. Government. He highlighted the historical differences between the European approach to the internet and tech policies and how they have impacted how we engage on AI policy discussions today in the United States. Competition and innovation stem from a light touch regulatory approach and thrive when the government doesn’t strangle it with regulations. By taking an all of the above approach to this emerging technology, Chip underscored the value of open source models as well as acknowledging proprietary models have their place in the ecosystem as well. He also emphasized the need for the United States to stand up to EU regulators’ continued regulatory assault on our leading innovators.
