WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 10, 2023 – INCOMPAS, the internet and competitive networks association, released the following statement in response to the House Energy and Commerce Oversight Subcommittee hearing on “Closing the Digital Divide: Overseeing Federal Funds for Broadband Deployment.”
“As Congress continues to review and streamline programs aimed at bridging the digital divide, one thing is abundantly clear: There are still far too many barriers to deployment,” said INCOMPAS CEO Chip Pickering. “Whether it’s fair and affordable access to pole attachments or removing unjust and onerous costs from railroads, our members are facing numerous hurdles that are straining their ability to create stable, affordable, robust connectivity across the country. We applaud the Energy and Commerce’s work on these important issues and look forward to working with the committee to remove these barriers and move us closer to Internet for All.”
